Fairness. I’m so exhausted of this word. Every day I hear it uttered, or see it plastered on my Facebook wall. It is as if everyone thought the Loch Ness Monster was not only real, but a convenient everyday conversation topic. “Hi, George. How’s work going? Watch the game last night? Seen the Loch Ness Monster lately? Life’s just so unfair, isn’t it?”

Authoritarian Leftists have a particular fetish for the term, such that they have developed a veritable dictionary of vague synonyms and code words to use in its place.  You’re privileged, Whitey. Never mind that you immigrated from Romania. We’ve got to “level the playing field” and “spread the wealth around.” My last post commented on an article that decreed reading bedtime stories to your children was unfair to children of disadvantaged individuals. Bedtime stories, a synonym for terrifying oppression.

Social Justice Warriors have declared war against a number of perceived privileges. There is “lookism” which refers to the advantage of being attractive. You have “ableism” which is having no obvious physical disabilities. The current favorite is “cis privilege” which refers to being either male or female. Yes, besides transsexuals, there are now “trigenders” and something called “genderqueer” which still confuses me. It supposedly has something to do with deciding that on Monday you were a boy, and on Tuesday a bisexual fartkin transsexual woman, or something to that effect. There are many more, including height, athletic abilities, musical talent, racial privilege, wealth and more. One article I read indicated that having blue eyes was unfair. I’m fine with my brown eyes, thank you very much.

Leftists love to trumpet their celebration of individuals and their rights to choose things, including the most famous variant of this. Yet, in essence, they are really asking for everyone to be the same. In some matters, they have a practical, if tyrannical, means of achieving their goal. For wealth, it is a simple matter. Make everybody poor (except the political class), and everything is fair. If you’ve been following the trajectory of American economics, you can see that they are having some success in this.

Otherwise, the best they can do seems to be to punish anyone who succeeds. Naturally, an exception is made for our rulers. Hillary Clinton, for example, will never be called to answer for defending a child rapist. But, if you take a picture of yourself within earshot of a child, you are guilty of horrifying criminal acts.

When Blacks burn the city down, it is the fault of Whites. When Whites burn the city down, it is the fault of Whites. It’s like the old adage, if a man cheats on his wife, that’s his fault. If a woman cheats on her husband, that’s also his fault.

The Leftist notion of fairness is as old as time:

As he walked through the wheat, continually asking why the messenger had come to him from Cypselus, he kept cutting off all the tallest ears of wheat which he could see, and throwing them away, until he had destroyed the best and richest part of the crop.

The best and richest crop of humanity is being destroyed now, in the name of fairness, a concept that does not exist except in the minds of men. Ask an antelope if it is fair to be eaten by a lion, or ask the lion if it is fair that he died of terrible disease. Life isn’t fair. You might say being alive, and experiencing a unique existence unlike that of anyone else, is categorically, by its very definition, the epitome of unfairness.

You see, if being tall is unfair, then shouldn’t everyone be the same height? If being White is unfair, should not everyone be the same color? Should they not be the same gender, have the same possessions, wear the same clothing and have the same jobs? The Leftist utopia is a world in which there are no individuals, in which, in effect, Homo Sapiens has become extinct, replaced by a vaguely similar species of uninteresting, mindless drones who are exact carbon copies of one another.

Kurt Vonnegut’s Harrison Bergeron is fast becoming prophecy. How soon will it be before you will be taxed for being tall, or penalized for being light-skinned? Where are the body weights for the strong, and the masks for the beautiful?

Everybody is born with a set of advantages and disadvantages in life. Choice, fortune, God, and circumstance give you more of both. I am generally regarded as somewhat intelligent, though I will borrow from Socrates and say that I do not think myself wise. But I am thin and possess few athletic talents outside of endurance. Do I disparage those who are stronger than I am?

No. I hit the gym and do the best I can with what I’ve got. And I’m sure, when I’ve beefed up sufficiently, some Leftist will come along and decree that now I have athletic privilege, ignorant of the sweat and blood expended in the doing. Cisgendered, athletically-privileged, White, Christian, male scum, they will say.

But above all, remember the key point: the only way for their vision of fairness to be possible is for most of humanity to cease to exist. Ponder that for a moment.
